Historical Society Meeting Minutes July 10, 2019

Attendance: Roger Maxfield, Melissa Moore, Michele York, Wes Jones, Deanna Tranfaglia, Dyrace Maxfield, Elizabeth Whitham, Lucy Gordon

The meeting was called to order at 6:35. The Secretary's report was read. Roger made a motion to accept the minutes. Deanna seconded. Motion passed.

The Treasurers report was read. The Historical Society finished the fiscal year (2018 - 2019) with $18.55 remaining in the budget. We will now start on the (2019 – 2020) budget.

Melissa Moore gave us an update on the Town History book. Melissa would like to meet with anyone in Loudon that lives in an old house (Pre 1850's) She is looking for information on the homes original families, who built the house, what was in the surrounding area etc. If anyone has any information about an old house please contact the Historical Society at LoudonHistory@gmail.com. Melissa has been to the NH archive many time doing research on the Goodwin Papers, Tax inventories and the Town farm to name a few topics. Loudon Town's history book is going to be an informative book with many stories about our early settlers.

The Historical Society now has a rough draft of our museum's "Tour guide." The guide will provide a little history on some of the items in the museum.

We discussed having a coloring book based on items in the museum. It would be used to help children identify items used in past generations. This project may encourage young people to get interested in History!

Old Home Day will be here soon. The Historical Society will hold its annual Bake Sale. The 2020 calendars should be available for sale.

At our next meeting we hope to have Neil English attend. Neil is very knowledgeable about Joshua Emery and the desk we have in the museum.

The Highway department is looking into moving the piano. The Historical Society has moved everything out of the way. We are waiting for the Highway crew to have their equipment ready to move the piano.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:40. Our next meeting is August 7th at 6:30. The public is invited to all our meetings.
