Historical Society Meeting Minutes September 01, 2021

Attendance: Melissa Moore, Michele York, Deanna Tranfaglia, Elizabeth Whitham, Stan Prescott, Sandi Noel and Lucy Gordon

The meeting was called to order at 6:35. The Secretary's report was read. Lucy made a motion to accept the minutes. Dee Dee seconded.. Motion passed.

The Treasurers report was read. It is early in the fiscal year so not much has been spent.

Melissa Moore gave us an update on the Town History book. She is working on the chapter about businesses. A few of the businesses she will be looking into are: Blacksmith, Grist Mills, Wagon makers and Charcoal kiln. If anyone has any pictures or information on “Old time” Loudon please e-mail us at LoudonHistory@gmail.com. Or contact one of the Historical Society members.

Melissa Moore and Liz LeBrun continue to work on the “Travel Trunk.” The Grant application is due in mid-September. The Grant application requires a letter of support for the project and a list of articles to be taken to schools. A couple of the Trunk ideals that were discussed are: Agriculture Trunk, Transportation Trunk and Bryar Motor Sports Park to name a few of the suggestions.

Old Home Day was a success. The new banners helped a lot to identify the Historical Society. We have heard that some people did not know the museum was open and there was a bake sale. Next year we will do more to make the public aware that we are open!

We are planning for the Tree lighting/Made in Loudon Expo. As of now this will be held on December 05 from 1-4. pm The tree lighting will be from 4:30 -5:00 pm. We will be selling table space. $10 for a half (4') table and $20 for a whole (8') table. We also discussed selling Loudon ornaments at the Expo.

Our next meeting will be on October 06, 2021.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:00 pm.

Lucy Gordon Stan Prescott
