Historical Society Meeting Minutes 4-6-22

Attendance: DeeDee Tranfaglia, Dyrace Maxfield, Roger Maxfield, Michele York, Lucy Gordon, Stanley Prescott, Melissa Moore, Sandi Noel, Elizabeth Whitham, Liz LeBrun

The meeting was called to order at 6:32 pm

There was a motion by Lucy to accept the Secretary’s Report as written. Second was made by Roger.

Lucy reported that ancestry.com has been renewed for $199. New toner is the only expense coming up.

Melissa reported that the chapter about stores is done for the Town History. She interviewed Randy Cummings about the Marston store and worked some at the Town Office where they were very helpful. The next chapter is about municipal government.

Deidre Randall sent a quote for publishing both paperback and hard cover books. The Directors will meet on Wednesday April 14 at 6:30 to pick a publisher.

The first Traveling Trunks presentation is for LHS members and guests on April 20th. DeeDee will make cookies. June 8 at 6:30 at Charlie’s Barn will be a public presentation.

Member signed up to man the Museum openings for the next few months.

Dyrace has reviewed donations of Batchelder family photos and there was discussion as to whether we wanted to keep them all (around 80) or do we want to offer them for sale to other organizations. Some photos were passed around and we decided to donate some that were not related to Loudon to the appropriate town Historical Society’s.

The Museum safe needs repair. All contents have been inventoried and should be kept in order. It needs to be welded and someone should be asked to quote a price.

The newly engraved veteran’s memorial at the Library should be dedicated on Memorial Day. It was suggested that Stanley, Roger and Mike Moffitt arrange a brief ceremony.

Other Business:

· Judy Markley inquired about volunteering.

· 593 items have been inventoried to date.

· Sanborn Mills is hosting an old barn expo this summer.

· Michele will keep putting something in the Ledger about Loudon’s 250th.

· June 4 is a town-wide yard sale. It is $10 to appear on the map given out to customers.

The next meeting is April 6 at 6:30 pm

Motion to adjourn by Lucy. Second by Michele. Meeting adjourned at 7:24 pm

Respectfully submitted,

Liz LeBrun, Secretary
