Historical Society Meeting Minutes 7-6-22

Attendance: Liz LeBrun, Stanley Prescott, Polly Touzin, Sandi Noel, Elizabeth Whitham, Melissa Moore, Michele York, Lucy Gordon, Roger Maxfield

The meeting was called to order at 6:26. Lucy made a motion to accept the secretary’s report as written. Roger seconded.

Lucy reported that we had $430 left in the treasury at year end.

Polly reported on her progress with collecting information for an indigenous people display and there was discussion on whether this should be planned for Old Home Day which is still not a definite event. Elizabeth will attend the next Old Home Day meeting and report back at our August meeting.

Melissa reported that she is nearing completion of the book and has signed the contract. The insurance is set to begin before publication takes place. The last chapter will be Curiosities A-Z and we discussed some ideas of what should be included in that chapter.

The Traveling Trunks program has put us in the public eye and we have received several donations because of it.

The safe is repaired but we discussed that it is not fireproof. Stanley will look into some options for a replacement. We also discussed a sandwich sign to advertise the museum open status and events. A large scanner was identified as another need. It was also suggested that we pay for membership to New Hampshire for Non-Profits since they maintain a data base for grants.

We viewed the Christmas cards drawn by Mel Bolden for President Jimmy Carter. They were obtained from the Carter Library due to a request when putting together the Mel Bolden display in February.

We discussed meeting September 7 to start planning next year’s Old Home Day. Our next regular meeting will be August 3 at 6:30 pm. Roger made a motion to adjourn. Lucy seconded. Meeting was adjourned at 7:40

Respectfully submitted,

Liz LeBrun

Secretary
