Historical Society Meeting Minutes 10-5-22

Attendance: Roger Maxfield, Liz LeBrun, Elizabeth Whitham, Stanley Prescott, Lucy Gordon, Michele York, DeeDee Tranfaglia

The meeting was called to order at 6:32 pm.

Lucy made a motion to accept the minutes from the last meeting with the correction of the spelling McGrath to McRath. The motion was seconded by Roger.

Lucy reported that $475 has been spent year to date with $3025 remaining.

The Town History is in its final stages with work being done on formatting, photo captions, choosing a subject for the letter X in the final chapter and bibliographies. There was also discussion of where to store the books upon delivery. No agreement was reached.

Discussion of the Craft Fair and Tree Lighting to take place on December 4 from 11-4. Tables are sold for both Charlie’s Barn and the Fire Station. The bake sale will be split between the two locations. S’mores and caroling will be 4-4:30. The tree lighting will be at 4:30 with Santa appearing. Someone will have to be lined up to play Santa. Rodney Phillips pruned the tree to clean up the appearance. Roger confirmed that calendars will be done for the Craft Fair.

We discussed the purchase of a new safe and Roger made a motion to purchase it with the ARPA money that was approved. DeeDee seconded the motion. Motion carried. Stanley will purchase the safe. The old safe will stay.

We discussed plans for 2023 Old Home Day. The Old Home Day Committee prefers helpers come to them. Stanley volunteered to be in charge of a Scavenger Hunt and the logistics were discussed.

Other ideas were:

· Time capsule

· Ringing of town crier’s bell to start activities

· Michele will try to get the churches involved for a combined Sunday Service

· Farmer’s market in the parking lot

· Banners across the street

· Ornaments

· Friday night movie

· Men growing beards

· Costume contest

· Float in the parade

The next meeting of the Historical Society is November 2 at 6:30 pm

Stanley made a motion to adjourn. Lucy seconded the motion.

The meeting adjourned at 7:26 pm.
