Historical Society Meeting Minutes 1-4-23

Attendance: Melissa Moore, DeeDee Tranfaglia, Michele York, Liz LeBrun, Sandi Noel, Lucy Gordon, Roger Maxfield, Elizabeth Whitham, Jill Power, Polly Touzin, Stanley Prescott

The meeting was called to order at 6:29.

Sandi made a motion to accept the November minutes as written. DeeDee seconded the motion.

Lucy reported that we spent $733 with $2700 remaining.

We discussed that a DVD burner was needed. The Traveling Trunks program purchased the software.

Polly returned the wooden coins loaned to her. She has talked with Emily Fiske about an indigenous people presentation for the 250th celebration. The possibilities include a Native American artist, basket-making, flute playing, drumming or a walking trail with learning incorporated along the way. It was suggested that maybe the Historical Society could take charge of the Sunday activities. It was suggested that we might use the gazebo for story-telling. Michele will reach out to the Old Home Day committee.

The material for the town history book has been delivered to the publisher. Melissa got back copy with edits and she has a goal to return it back to the publisher by January 18. It was suggested by the publisher that she expand the racetrack section. The book committee will meet January 11 to discuss some outstanding business.

The Traveling Trunk project has submitted final reports and did not request the final payout because not all the money was spent. A poster was made for display in the museum to highlight the project.

The Expo and Tree Lighting went as scheduled with no complaints. Nineteen tables were rented and turnout was good. One suggestion was to have lunch items for sale next year. The Historical Society made $680 on the event.

Elizabeth showed sample magnetic name badges that we thought was something we ought to pursue purchasing. Lucy will check with Rodney Phillips who provided some for the election workers. Stanley will check with Saymore.

The calendars were completed in early December and 60 have been sold so far for $10 each. Next year we should see if Dyrace wants help and perhaps have a schedule and a contract.

The safe is due to arrive soon and Stanley will be notified by email for delivery.

The yearly submission written for the town report was good. It was verified that this year only the capital reserve for the Stone House will be the Historical Society’s ask at Town Meeting.

Melissa showed a brief video of Stanley building the Concord Coach.

The next meeting will be February 1 at 6:30pm.

Michele made a motion to adjourn the meeting. DeeDee seconded the motion.

The meeting adjourned at 7:41.
