Historical Society Meeting Minutes 12-6-23

Attendance: Melissa Moore, Wes Jones, Elizabeth Whitham, Jill Power, Stanley Prescott, Lucy Gordon, Dusty Bowles, Michele York, Liz LeBrun

The meeting was called to order at 6:30pm.

Michele made a motion to accept the Secretary’s report as written. Stan seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Treasurer’s report—We have spent $943 year to date.

Report on the Made in Loudon Expo—Some vendors did well while others did not. The signage was inadequate especially at the fire station. A banner is needed on the front of the bake table. It was also noted that the vendors should identify themselves on their table.

Time Capsule Committee—Some committee members are meeting Tuesdays and Thursdays 9-12 and progress is being made entering the items into Past Perfect. Plastic sleeves are needed to archive most items.

Calendar/Family History Committee—The committee will meet in January to organize collected info. Wes will approach Dyrace to settle payment for calendars. Dusty will ask new PO owner to sell calendars.

Message Board Committee—The committee will meet before the next monthly meeting.

Circa signs—Wes will get more information on how to approach this.

Humanities Program—The application is approved. Program topic: New England's Colonial Meetinghouses and their impact on American Society. Speaker Paul Wainwright is confirmed and Melissa will send him information about Loudon’s meetinghouse.

Review of book sales—Melissa went to two events in October. The Racing Museum wants six books at a price discount. Gilmanton’s Own would take books at a price discount as well. Can we pursue paying off the book costs to the Town so we have control over how they are sold?

We reviewed the Town Report submission.

We discussed recent donations from Dean Wilber (sugaring items), Faith Stevens (typewriter, adding machine and miniature Concord Coach) and Charlene Morin (a check found in her barn dated 1921.

We discussed the Yard Sale and decided that we did not have enough items to do it every year. Melissa made a motion that it will not be an annual event. Michele seconded the motion. Motion passed.

We discussed the benches stored upstairs. They are not ours to sell and should go back to the Town Hall.

There is no January meeting. The next meeting is February 7 at 6:30 pm.

Michele made a motion to adjourn. Melissa seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Meeting adjourned at 7:34
