One-Room School Houses

Loudon's One-Room Schoolhouses DVD

 Loudon's One-Room Schoolhouses

The one-room schoolhouse was a common fixture on the American landscape, and Loudon was no exception.  For three generations, between the years 1795 and 1954, Loudon had thirteen one-room school districts.  An 1892 map of Loudon specifically indicates where each school was located.  The school buildings were generally small, simply built, and located throughout the entire town.  All that was required for learning was a teacher, desks, chalkboards and a good wood stove for heat during those cold winter months.

A DVD of  Loudon's One-Room Schoolhouse is for sale.  The cost is $10 per DVD.  All proceeds will go to the Loudon History book fund.
